Brenda Salgado is first generation Nicaraguan-American, born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is grateful to her parents and ancestors for instilling in her the values and teachings that have led her to cultural, spiritual and social justice work. Brenda’s ancestor lineage includes members who practiced traditional medicine in Nicaragua though much of this medicine was lost to more recent generations in her family.
She has received training from elders in Purepecha traditional healing, Xochimilco traditional healing with roses, and herbal medicine and ceremony from various teachers here in the U.S. and in Central America. She extends deep gratitude to her ancestors, elders and teachers for their guidance and support on this medicine path.
She was formerly the Director of East Bay Meditation Center, and currently serves on the boards of Movement Strategy Center and Lion’s Road Foundation. She founded Nepantla Consulting, where she provides limpias and other healing services, meeting facilitation and workshops, and officiates ceremonies.
She is the founder of Moons Rising Circle, which meets on the New Moon and Full Moon every month in San Leandro. For several years she coordinated First Wednesdays Healing Circle at Unity San Leandro, offering free services once a month (pranic healing, reflexology, limpias, EFT, etc). She will be opening the Nepantla Center for Healing and Renewal in 2017 to begin offering community healing spaces once again throughout the East Bay.
